Adium disconnect/reconnect problem

I have Adium 0.89.1 and whenever I try to connect to AIM, it connects, then immediately disconnects, then repeats this process until the server says that I've been disconnecting and reconnecting too much and I need to wait. Every now and then, Adium will connect properly and not disconnect/reconnect a lot.

How can I stop Adium from doing this?

Are you sure the issue lays within adium and not network problems on your side?

My adium (AIM) does it too. It has for the past few days. It will log off, but not tell me that. Then I'll usually get a text message from my boyfriend saying I logged off, meanwhile I was typing away. Sometimes it would physically log on and off, but not often. Today I deleted everything and installed .89.1. It still does it. So I switched over to iChat. That seemed to work (which made me sad because I like Adium a lot more) and again it disconnected after a while without telling me. My boyfriend tells me it means AIM changed its protocol. What does that mean and how do I find out what it's been changed to?

You could either try the beta or wait for the upcoming 1.0, there are many fixes and improvements, possibly a fix for your issues.
