In my preferences I have the font size and everything set to the default, but in my chats, my font size is smaller than the incoming messages. If I increase it, the incoming font size increases as well. It's very annoying. Any idea how to fix this?

try this:

go to prefs: advanced and go to the messages tab. set minimum font size to 12 or whatever you want. this works for size - i haven't gotten actual fonts to change yet.
