Buddy Info Appearing when Contact List Hidden

Post by wolfy »

Hey there - I did a search for this, but couldn't find anything. Still, sorry if I'm repeating something!

I've noticed in the past few versions of Adium, that when I "hide" the contact window, either by "Hide Adium" or by clicking elsewhere on the screen (I've got "hide when in background" checked"), I'll still see people's info pop up when my mouse is left on that side of the screen.

This is actually quite annoying, like when I need to read, etc, something on that side of the screen that I need to use my mouse with. Or if I'm watching a movie. Etc. Maybe I'm describing this badly, but just imagine if a random, slightly transparent window came up at random times.

As I just said, it doesn't happen all the time. And while I might be able to disable the pop-up (can I?), I actually use them quite often to quickly check multiple away messages. Thanks for any help!

This is a really strange bug that's been hard for us to squash. Can you find any reliable way to reproduce this?

As zaudragon said, you will be able to turn off the popups entirely in the future, should that tickle your fancy.

I'll start paying attention to exactly what I'm doing/what's on the screen (ie, active and not hidden, etc) when I see it happening. Give me a week or so (school VERY busy right now) and I'll repost.

I didn't mention it before, but Adium kicks ass :). The first thing that draws people is my iBook, and then they see my chat program and always say something like, "Damn, what IS that?" or "Is that AIM?" (if they ask that one I just laugh).

I'm very impressed with the fast replies by such higher-up type peoples. Nice job, and thanks!

Yeah we do; evands approved it,
I approved the use of Adium on it, as free publicity is good publicity (and it was fun!)... that doesn't mean I approved of the show itself. Just to be clear. 8)
and you need to listen to him!
Nope, he doesn't. We try to be relatively democratic! :)

Adam is the President.
Evan is the Vice President.
Everyone else on The Team is the Cabinet.
The IRC channel is the Supremem Court, judging features to be un-Adiumy.
And finally, us here at the forums are Congress.

One problem with that metahpor, the Executive and Legislative Branches' roles are switched.
