:P is not supported

Post by Jonathan8 »

Dear reader(s),

It seems that Adium (in MSN mode) does not render

Code: Select all

:P
as an emoticon. So the 'p' has to be an underscore. I would find it useful if

Code: Select all

:P
was rendered as an emoticon as well, since some people type

Code: Select all

:P
. Could I change some code somewhere or is a future release going to address this problem?

Most likely a future release will fix this problem. You can fix it yourself, however, if you have the Apple Developer Tools installed.

Right click on the Adium application and click Show Package Contents. Then navigate to

Contents > Resources > Emoticons

Right click on MSN.AdiumEmoticonset and click Show Package Contents.

Open Emoticons.plist using the Property List Editor (double click should work).

Navigate to Root > Emoticons > Sticking Out Tongue.
Select "Equivalents," click Add Child. Add :P to the list, save and quit.

Property lists can be opened with other applications, such as TextEdit, as its a plain text XML file.
Try my software!

#define ADIUMX pimp //by me
#define QUESTION ((2b) || (!2b))
Have you hugged a programmer today?

That's true, Adium plists aren't binary, so you should be able to edit it with TextEdit. (it's easier to edit using Property List Editor though.)

Easily fixed; done for 1.0.1.
