jabber problem since last update

My jabber account logs on and then logs off and it repeats this endlessly. This is after i upgraded. I tried ichat, and that won't work either (used to) - the upgrade must have changed something, but not sure what or where.

Anyone know how to fix this...?!

- which Jabber service are you using?
- anything in the logs?

Same problem here...

Things have been working fine with Adium on my Mac G5 until I updated to 1.0. Now, as the original poster says, I can't connect to my Jabber server and I get a read error.

What do you mean by Jabber "service?"

I actually meant to reply to a different thread that mentioned the "read error" after upgrading 1.0. But I've also experienced the "connecting", then "offline", then "connecting" cycle.

I'm having the same problem as the original poster.

Friday afternoon when I left work, my Adium connected to both Jabber servers I use, simultaneously, without any problem.

When I came to work today, however, when Adium tried to connect to either Jabber server, it would connect and disconnect repeatedly. I didn't have the problem when Adium connected to my Yahoo account; the problem was isolated to Jabber, but both Jabber servers, which leads me to believe it isn't merely a screwy server issue.

I've tried a fresh reinstall of 0.89.1, and a fresh reinstall of 1.0.1 and neither works. I've updated my OS and I've restarted. Nothing seems to help. I'm baffled and would appreciate some help.

Update: My problem was that I was logged in at home and didn't know it. Hope this helps someone in the future :)

I was encountering this issue, and amberlaine's post gave me an idea. I believe I also had adium logged in on another machine. Jabber should allow this, though, but each instance should be identified by a unique 'Presence' identifier.

I changed my 'presence' string in the jabber account config, and it began working fine. This sounds like a jabber presence id conflict. By default, it's 'adium'... so change it to 'Work' or 'Home' or something unique for each account.

I am not logged in different locations... problem continues...Please note one important mention i've made in my original posting - this is not only a adium/jabber issue; since the upgrade (to adium 1.0), my ichat won't work either.

There's something definitely messed up during the upgrade.

* i should clarify; when i say ichat won't work, i mean when using jabber through it. Any other IM session (AIM, Yahoo, etc) in adium and ichat works just fine.

iChat and Adium are completely separate with regards to jabber, talk to your server admin, that is probably where your issue is.

Hi All,

I could not find any other solutions other than using Fire. This seems to be the only solution for the time being, if you're in quick need of having jabber on your mac. I like Adium much more, but it's not much of a use to me if i can't get it to work.

Thanks,

Maybe you should ask your server admin to look into the log when Adium fails to connect. It could reveal some information on this issue.

Hi!
Now i have trouble with Jabber.
Where used 2 different jabber server with same username - first connect, than other will immediately disconnect. Only one will connect in same time. :(
