adium cannot connect to the interent

my universiy uses proxies,adium cannot use the system preferences' setting.
how can I set the proxies in adium?

there is no such settings in adium so i cannot set the proxies for adium.

Adium makes use of the settings provided in the 'System Preferences', so are you saying you don't have permissions to access the Mac's network preferences?
Is this your own computer or the university's.

i couldnot connect to any of my account,so i thought adium doesnot use the provided setting.
it says
connection error from notification server:
reading error
why is that?
