Huge problem with font colors

Hey everyone!
I've been having a lot of trouble with the font settings. I've read the FAQ and I've found this indications:

To change your font or your color, use the "Show Fonts" and "Show Colors" menu items in the Format menu. This works in messages, profile, status messages.

Change your font, then send a message, then close the chat. This will cause the font (or color) setting to stick. You can even send the message to yourself if you don't want to bother anybody.

I've done what it says but I still get the same problem over and over again: I change the font color to pink, and I send a message to someone, and it displays as pink, but when I go on to send another message to the same person or to someone else, the font color changes to white.

I don't know what to do, please, someone help me! I'll be truly grateful!

When you use the format menu (or aternatively, Apple key - T) you can set your font, and background color. After you do that, you must click the "Save this setting as my default font" button at the bottom of the dialogue window before closing it. :)

that's fine, BUT with older versions font / color/style changes could be done on the fly using the icon at the top of the chat window and changes would stick until the next time a change was made - didn't need to keep going to the format menu.

Did you check the "Save This Setting As My Default Font" button on the Font Panel?

thanks for reply but i'm not talking about using the format menu, i mean just quick changes within a chat (eg different color for emphasis, or for change of subject) using the buttons along the top - usually don't go to the font panel at all, just the color panel button. however, if i do change color using the font panel and do "save this setting..." it still reverts after one line to a default color. similarly if i do it via Preferences

i'm not losing any sleep over this - i see others have noticed the same thing so i'm assuming it's a glitch which will be fixed eventually
