Pasting image addresses

The new version of adium now defaults to pasting the filename as a link when you paste an image address from safari, instead of the url, as it used to.
This is bad because I mostly talk to people on gmail chat, and links do not show up there... urls, however, do (obviously)
I am aware that holding apple+shift+option +v pastes the url, but this is extremely annoying.
Is there any way to revert the default paste to url? A preference or a preferences file or something?
Thanks!

Sounds like a bug - you're saying that people using Google Talk don't receive the link properly? Please
file a Trac ticket

No, what I mean is that people using Google Talk via google's web interface in gmail do not receive any hyperlinks unless they are formatted as a url. It's an issue on google's end but i was wondering if there was a way i could easily paste urls like adium used to.

If the Google Talk client receives them correctly, and all other Google Talk compatible clients - such as Adium - receive them correctly, then Adium is currently doing the right thing by sending the formatted link.

The google talk client receives the links correctly; however the gmail chat / google talk web interface does not. The majority of google talk users use the gmail web interface instead of the google talk client.
the gmail chat interface would properly receive a link woth a name like
http://www.site.com/image.jpg and would display it to the other user as a link...
however with the default adium paste (that has changed since the 0.x version), it would now send that link with link text as only image.jpg which would be worthless to the gmail chat recipient because it would not be linked.

I see.
Have you filed this Gmail Chat Interface bug with the Gmail team?

no... i should, though.
Though I have a feeling that it's not a bug, it's a feature to help stop malicious IMs... the way gmail chat's web interface is set up, the only way to send a link is to send a url. Thus you cannot hide the link as something else.

I argue it is 100% unequivocally a bug.

XMPP supports sending rich text. Rich text includes links with titles. Links are important parts of a conversation -- in many conversations, the most important part -- and no useful archiving or access system should obfuscate them.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you. I'll ask Gmail's team about it.
Until then, do you know of any way to get back the old default paste? Or do I just have to shift+option+apple v?

It's an annoying key combo in my opinion, too, but it's what Apple has chosen as "Paste as Plain Text" and so it's what we'll follow, too, as inconsistency with shortcuts is a terrible thing.
If you have the
Developer Tools, you can very easily modify the Adium.app/Contents/Resources/MainMenu.nib file to have the key combinations you want. If you run into any problems, I'm sure someone on the forums will be happy to walk you through it

Hi there,
I have exactly the same problem as mentioned in the first post, but in my case the url's dont work for MSN contacts. (only sometimes..)
Since we're a year later i wondered if there's any better solution than using shift+cmd+opt+V?
OS 10.5.2
Safari 3.1
Adium 1.2.4

MSN explicitly doesn't support sending links as formatted text with titles; Adium should be handling this for you automatically. Please provide an example of a link which you are unable to send.

I just did a recheck, and it just works like it should. I was a little confused after a chat about it with a friend of mine. Problem gone.
