Don't know if this is possible with Growl...

I can't seem to find anything on the forum about this, but does anyone know if it's possible to customize alerts in Growl? Let me be more specific...
I have tons of people on my buddy list, and it seems like every 30 seconds I have a notification popping up, which gets a little annoying. However, I really want notifications for some things, and at the moment it's a choice of all or nothing. There doesn't seem to be any way to have Growl notifications pop up when specific contacts/groups of contacts sign in (or whatever).
If it is currently possible to do this, can someone tell me how? Or, if it's not, I'd love for that to be looked into for future versions of Adium.

Growl will be much more customizeable from inside Adium in .8. But for now, you should be able to set which ones you want to see or not see through the growl preferences, in System Preferences

I'm relatively new to both programs but had a thought as to the potential power of combining the two to revolutionize IM interfaces.
I have Adium set to show a sticky growl notification for all messages recieved (though it seems I can't get a notification for consecutive messages recieved while the focus is still on adium. I'd like to be able to have notifications for *all* incoming messages.)
If this could be done, then I could use the message window strictly to *imput* text to *send* messages, but recieve all incoming messages as growl notifications. This would allow me to make the message window tiny. Just large enough to imput text. Hell if adium could sent notifications for messages *sent* as well, I'd be able to use the message window *strictly* for text imput, and be able to have all incoming and outgoing messages as growl notifications. This would be *really* cool.

I don't know how practical that is, since you can't review messages after you dismiss them with growl, but if you're desperate to make it work, you could make a modified message style in which the incoming message is set to have style "display: none;" so that incoming messages don't display in your message window.

I'm not really looking to have anything *less* displayed in the message window. I'd like to keep that around for the ability to scroll up and the need to click links. Rather, what I'd be interested in is the ability to have all messages (including outgoing messages) have growl notifications so that I can carry on a back and forth conversation without having to look at the message window.
I realize having all messages appear as growl notifications isn't for everyone, but it would be neat for me. Just an idea though.

In .8 you can set growl to display on all sent and recieved messages.
