Question: HTTP connect method in MSN & MSN unstable

Post by mayanchica »

What exactly does the HTTP connect method do? Would it be more or less stable than connecting the regular way?

The reason I ask is that MSN seems to be really unstable on my Mac and a friend's Mac for roughly the last month, even using the official MSN messenger app. It signs me out anywhere from every 5 minutes to every half an hour, sometimes notifying me that I'm disconnected, and sometimes not. Many times it (both Adium and MSN messenger) show me as being signed in when I'm really not.

I'm hoping to find a method of using MSN that's more stable/reliable...

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

(I'm using Adium 0.77, by the way)

It connects over HTTP. It's generally _less_ reliable, not more... but your mileage may vary, so if you're having trouble with the default settings it can't hurt to try.
