well i have a curious question? wouldnt it only be proper to implement this in clients that support it in their native programs. i wouldnt want to see it in yahoo's client if the official yahoo messenger doesnt have it. it not amatter of privacy for that but fairness. it wouldnt be fair to be able to read thier messages as they typed if they couldnt do the same. secondly if say yahoo doesnt suport this in thier native client wouldnt it be way too much work for the programmers to add? there wouldnt be any "line" to tap into and frankly theres other features i would like to be developed first

Just to clear something up here (based on reading vernies_garden's post just now)...if a client, such as Yahoo! Messenger, doesn't have this feature, then we can't support it in any way, except between Adium users. We can't just implement something that magically reads the text field in the other person's client. It's up to the client to send out that information, though the other client also has to be equipped to receive it. It's like the Tic Tac Toe that used to be in Adium. Only Adium users could play it amongst themselves, because both parties have to have support for it. You can't play with someone on Yahoo! Messenger and have it automatically pop up an Adium Tic Tac Toe window on their screen (though you could add support in Adium for Yahoo's own games, which would be totally separate).

I agree with your ideas, but I just wanted to point that out. Overall I agree with the sentiment that something like this should only be included if it's in the official client (otherwise it's impossible except between Adium users), and even then there should be a pref to disable it.

I'm not seeing anymore point to this thread if it's not possible. It has gone on too long.
