Hi, I'm just joined caz I finally got my Adium working with QQ.
Part of what I read here has helped, but still I ended up with a trial-&-error situation.

I used Little Snitch to let me see what was being asked for with the official QQ & loads of numbers came with that, including ports 8000 & 443.

Then from your contact here, I downed LumaQQ & that was happy on port 443.

Final working situation:
PowerBook G4 1.5Ghz / 10.4.11
Adium X 1.2.5
QQ registered thru their site - user name/ID number/password

Adium asks for "user name" - but insert ID number instead
Password - ok

Login server = sz9.tencent.com
Port = 443
Connection - without TCP

Privacy - Encrypt as requested
no Proxy

Hopes it works for you too & thanks for your help in getting me this far.

PS - why can't this forum allow me to use a search for "QQ"?
- 2 letters not allowed - how frustrating with a service they supply.

Thanks for your informative post. It sounds like we should change the username field to be labeled "ID number" for QQ accounts.

I've fixed the search settings on the board to allow indexing and searching of 2-character words such as QQ.

I've not been able to log in to QQ for months. I've just been trying all the combinations in this thread, but all to no avail. All I get is "Error: Unable to read from socket".

A couple things here.

1. QQ is working in Adium again as of this week, somehow. Both my friend in Singapore and myself in America are successfully using Adium to talk to one another and others on QQ.

2. QQ DOES have a Mac client. Find out all the details, including how to sign up for a QQ number on an English page at http://nstanosheck.blogspot.com/2008/04 ... glish.html

While LumaQQ is more full-featured than the current Mac Preview Release, people should download and use the official client too, if only to show TenCent the need for a full-featured, fully-supported Mac version of QQ, which should also help the ability to use it on Adium, hopefully!
