iTunes status and general status

Postby meatleg » Sat Mar 10, 2007 10:46 am

i recently helped a friend install adium on her computer. then, hen we were both logged in, and both had itunes running, and both had our status set to itunes, and we were using the same network for internet (an apple base station)

She could see my currently playing songs displayed in her member list
BUT
i could not see her currently playing songs displayed in my member list

i checked both of our preferences, but couldnt figure out the difference. everything was apparently checked the same... we did have different layout themes fr the contact list, but only the color was different (me black, her orange, switching that didnt help)

any suggestions? is there a playlist i can delete?

i am running growl and growl ichat, but no growl itunes...
we are both on 10.4.8

thx...

are other status messages shown in your buddy list? maybe you just disabled them. have you checked if your friends' iTunes status is visible in the info window (ctrl-click her name in your contact list and select "get info").
and what services are you using (such as AIM, Jabber etc.)?

thats what i thought, but i cant figure out how to display it...

i see it when i scroll over the contacts (without clicking) and if i right click i have it in the get info window, it just wont display next to or under the name.

i use, gtalk, ichat/aim, yahoo, yahoo japan and msn messenger accounts in my adium...

thx

ok, now it's easy. go to Adium -> Preferences -> Appearance -> List Layout -> Customize -> Contacts. check "Show Status below Name".
But note that with MSN contacts the iTunes status won't work, since MSN personal messages aren't supported in Adium yet. your other services should work.

i hope that helps.

iTunes - getting it to work

Postby Beatleboy » Sun Mar 11, 2007 7:45 am

I followed your instruction too, but could not get all the way through. The "Show Status below Name" choice is grayed out. Also, when I slick on Edit and "Insert iTunes Token", the list shown is grayed out. How do I get these activated?
