Personally, when handling Metacontacts, I would suggest a few things..
Since Adium X works against the Addressbook, it would be possible in the Preferences to select a:
"Automatically create a Metacontact of the same person"
As in. If you have a person in Adressbook, where you have listed various Messenger accounts, it automatically bunch those together into a Metacontact.
Now, there's no visual clue to who is a Metacontact in the Buddy List, unless you drag your cursor over it. Wouldn't it be nice with some kind of indicator. An arrow, a "+" or a different colour or something. Not as vital when it comes to daily use as that, but would help in sorting the list.
I would prefer to have an arrow to the left, which also work as a drop-down menu, where you're able to directly select the account you want to use, instead of selecting that in the message window, since that make it easier to see if you're actually trying to send them a message on an account they're actually online on, or not (in case they've just logged into ICQ, but not MSN, as an example.
Also.. I accidently added someone to a Metacontact, and now, for my life, I can't get that person out of the Metacontact, and I've tried the "-" sign on the Info-pane
