Import Conversation History from Messenger

Post by xApple »

Hello everyone,
I am a new user to Adium; but already convinced.
First let me congratulate the developers for their work, great job ! A good substitute to messenger for accessing the MSN network and not only because it ain't a mirco$oft product : )
Though one thing holds me back: How can I get all my previous logs (made by MSN Messenger, and stored I don't know where) into Adium where they can be viewed with the newly created ones ?
Such a function would be great help... for, moreover, Messenger only permits viewing of the logs when connected...

Thanks in advance.

The logs can be found here:

Documents: Microsoft User Data: MSN Messenger History

This is where mine are anyway ... its possible that youre Microsoft User Data Folder is somewhere else, depends on ur settings ... just search for it if you need to.

This means that you can read them without booting up MSN and logging in ... its just not very easy to find the logs from this method. As yet I have not heard of any log import feature. If this existed I would use it but at the moment it doesn't worry me a lot.

Thanks for the advice maelgwn...
Found the msn logs, and trying to understand the horrible format to write an importer.
If I get something working I'll let you know.

I also just noticed that in the conversation history of the M$ MSN client that you can individually export convos as .html This is probably fairly useless but ill put it here anyway :-D
