how are people editing the sound files on adium as i would like to make my own custom sounds .
sorry if its a realy dumb question

First of all, wrong section.
Are you on b3 or .77?
For .77 choose the sound preference. From the soundset drop down choose custom. Choose the sound in the right hand column..scroll all the way down to select 'Other...'
For b3...Select the soundset from the drop down menu, if you want one of those choices. Otherwise construct one manually. Press the '+' button in the bottom left, choose the event from the top dropdown. Choose 'Play a sound' from the second,, then from the third(which will apear). Select Other.. all the way at the bottom.
