Contacts appear invisible, but they can talk to me

Every so often a message box comes up from another person. They don't appear on my contact list and I can't message them back. When I log into the official MSN I can see them fine....
any ideas????

Maybe they have set their status to invisible?

nope..i ask them later on and they say no
and remember i cant reply back when it happens

Same here happening here... 100% sure this is a protocol thing.
