Log Viewer Searching

Post by CrimsonScythe »

I'm currently running 0.8b3, and the search in the Log Viewer doesn't really work very well. Doing a search for the word "matlab" gives me two hits (from the same chat session), while doing a grep for "matlab" in the logs directory gives me well over 300 hits. I'm not sure what more I can say about the problem.

Have you let it completely index the logs? (If not, it should say "Indexing x of y logs" at the top of the Logger window.) I've encountered this problem before too, but I think normally it works pretty well for me. I just wish I could search for exact phrases instead of only single words.

Where should it say that? In the title bar or in the "status line" under the menu bar? I haven't really seen any such message.

Yes, it would indeed be nice if we could search for phrases and with wild cards.
