AIM Bots?

Post by mith »

A couple of days ago I started finding some odd contacts mixed with my real ones.

I have these contacts such as Spleak, Movifone and a couple more. They are all AIM contacts.

I remove them, but they reappear when I restart.

Ideas?

I had the same. I removed the group, and the whole group along with the buddies re-appeared. Did it a second time, and it seems to have stuck.

Your mileage may vary.

Removing the contacts alone did not work. Tried quite a few times.

Now I have deleted the group and all the contacts within. I'll update if this eventually works.

Try using the official AIM cleint. That may work.

Yeah, make the changes you want in the official AIM client (aim.com) and see if they stick better then.

While the contacts, for reason, were in the "AIM Bots" group, after a long research, they turned out to be ICQ contacts. Connecting with the ICQ2Go Java app available on icq.com I could remove those contacts and now are not appearing anymore.
On the other side, removing them with AidiumX about 10-15 times, resulted in them reappearing at every reconnect.

I hope this will be helpful for someone else.
