I just downloaded Adium yesterday and love it! There is just one feature that I miss from AIM--an alert when I have a new email message. I hate keeping my mail open in the background, so an email alert would be awesome. Thanks!!

I'm pretty sure it's an option in the upcoming Adium release.

Hasn't it always been a feature?
It certainly will be in the new version, in the Accounts prefs.

What types of email accounts does this / will this work with? Just MSN etc, or any POP and/or IMAP accounts?
POP/IMAP would be great

No, Adium only does this for services that have this.

It works for Yahoo, which can of course be accessed by POP3 - but you can't just get alerts for any old email account
