The two main third-party IM clients for Windows are Gaim (
http://gaim.sf.net) and Trillian (
http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/). Gaim is GPL (free, open-source, etc., like Adium), while Trillian is closed-source and has both a freeware version and a better "pro" version that you can buy.

I also suggest trying Miranda (
http://www.miranda-im.org ). It is plugin based, and takes a bit of customizing to make it pretty, but once you get the hang of it, its quite nice. I wouldn't use anything else if i had to use windows.

I prefer gaim on windows, and adium on os x.
I also prefer for the language to be kept to a minimum on the forums

i actually really hated my mac and loved my laptop until yesterday when i installed some haxies to make me love it, and then this, Adium. My dad got me an imac a while back, and ive never really liked it until now.
i got a laptop cuz at my other house, my moms, we had one computer for three kids who liked to be on AIM 24/7, so my mom bought be a laptop for my birthday. After many changes and virus and spyware protectors i dont have problems with it.

Do you mean expletive?
I'd recommend Miranda from the little I've seen of it, it looks pretty flexible.

Basically, you want this thread:

The general answer is, no, we can't write Adium for Windows.
