Just loaded Adium 1.0.5 and on start up I get an error message:

SSL Handshake Failed

I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.10 and this problem wasn't showing up using the Adium 1.0.5 beta, nor on earlier versions.

I'm not sure if the configuration of something on my system is at fault though I know I've changed nothing to my knowledge that would impact SSL, but since the only difference is going from the beta 1.0.5 to the release version, I suspect the issue comes from the Adium 1.0.5 release version. Is there any change from the last beta to the release version that would concern SSL?

I'd appreciate any ideas on a solution or ideas on where to start looking for potential trouble spots on my system.

First off, could you try the 1.0.5 beta again so we know for a fact that it's the release that changed things? http://adiumx.cachefly.net/Adium_1.0.5b3.dmg

Thanks for your response evands and for posting the beta version to confirm my previous statement.

Adium 1.0.5b3 also fails the SSL Handshake on *this* computer. My apology for my previous post about using 1.0.5b3 successfully. I got confused because I was using the beta version on two different computers with different results.

Bottom line, Adium 1.0.5 release version and 1.0.5b3 both fail on one computer, but both appear to work correctly on my other computer.

Since it appears that this is a problem that originates with the one computer, I'll see if I can isolate the origin of the problem on that computer and work on solving that (any pointers on where to look to solve the SSL Handshake problem on that one computer would be very much appreciated).

My apologies again for suggesting this might be an Adium problem when it appears to be a local problem isolated to only one of my computers.

The "SSL Handshake Failed" error has been solved on my problem computer by simply deselecting "Force old-style SSL" in Preferences>Accounts>Options
