Italian Localization Project

Hi to all, developers and users!
I'd like to start a translation project for AdiumX. I already own the latest beta version (and I update it several times a day by svn); do I just have to create an Italian.lproj folder within Resources folder in Adium.app and translate all the elements (strings and *.nib panels), test it and then send you to include it in the source? Who should I ask for an authorization to start the work?
Let me know!
bye

I believe The_Tick was in charge of getting the people for localizations, I'm not sure though. Someone may already be working on an Italian localization, or there may not be anyone.

Only do the .nibs in the English.lproj folder

As Strifer said, send me an email,
evan@adiumx.com.

Nice
Adium's still not 100% ready for localization... so there will be some strings which can't be translated yet, but we're getting there, and those files are the vast majority.

edit: i just checked the other file: hell yes i did the large one first
edit 2: can i test drive it with my new language to see how things work out? i might need to swop some words and caps and stuff.

Hi! I have been also interested in doing this. I asked in the irc channel, I have been redirected to The_Tick - never got a reply. I believe Adium svn is not yet stable enough to be localised, it is a moving target, but I would be eager to help in the localisation as soon as the moment is the right one.

All the best!

Ya, I plan to contact people, or have someone else do it, when we are ready to localize. I want to make a really easy step by step howto of the process, so that we can get localizations done at a reasonable rate.

There are several problems at present... moving target, yes, and not fully ready for localization, and no set in stone clear directions for exactly what to do and how to do it. But we're getting closer, so as people have been contacting me recently wanting to help, I've been letting them get started on the strings file, which will be at least 95% or so the same in the future so is a safe, solid thing to work on.

Right.
My plan is to translate adium to pig latin, and make a screen shot guide based on this. At that point I'll post it here, and email everyone that contacted me before regarding it.

Pig Latin would be awesome! How about 1337 (hacker)? (
Google did it.)

Heh, no idea. I don't even know all the rules of pig latin

According to a quick Google search, if it starts with a vowel, just add "ay" to the end. If it starts with a consonant (or multiple consonants), move it/them to the end of the word, and add "ay." So "speak English!" becomes "eakspay Englishay!" I think those are the only two rules. Good luck!

As I learned it, if it starts with a vowel you actually add "hay." So:
Ihay amhay uentflay inhay Igpay Atinlay.
(And I am, actually, can speak it at full speed.)

So...
I'm going to translate all .nib files; btw, I already translated about half of localizablestrings, so if it's needed I'll finish it and send it to evan...
Let me know, and goodbye!

Don't touch .nib files which aren't already in English.lproj.
