Message Cutoff

Apologies if this has been asked, a quick search found nothing.

Is it possible to specify a message cutoff ala X-Chat? I find I have to reopen message windows after lengthy conversations as it starts to slow down considerably.

It's something I've been investigating, but I haven't implemented it yet.
