Hi y'all
Does anybody know how I assign buddy icons to gtalk people in Adium? I just want to get rid of that gtalk balloon.
I have tried assigning pictures through the gmail webpage, but they didn't come through to Adium. I can't see the icons that people have assigned on their own.
I also tried simply attaching pictures to the Address Book application on my Mac. No joy.
There is no problem with Yahoo or MSN people, only gtalk.

You can also assign it within Adium - just Get Info on a contact, then drag an image into the image area or double click it to select an image.
Hi evands,
Thanks a lot for that tip on the Get Info Tag - I had no idea you could do that! Perhaps it should be on the FAQ of Adium?
As for Address Book however, that still doesn't work for for my Gtalk Adium Contacts. I'm not sure by what you mean by which field (you may have already guessed I'm a bit of a nOOb at this), but I just dragged a pic into the picture frame on the Contact. As I said before, it works fine with all the others on Adium, just not Gtalk, which I find a little strange..

Actually I just answered my own question! The Gmail contacts appeared straight into Adium without me having to do anything and so I didn't pay too much attention to the Address Book side of things. I couldn't figure out why their contact picture wasn't going across.. but what I was doing wrong in the Address Book was putting their gmail ID in the Jabber box, but forgetting to put the @gmail.com part at the end!
How embarrassing. It works great now.
