Different User Colors for group chat

I've looked through the forum and available applescripts and plug-ins elsewhere and have not yet seen any mention of the ability to display user names in a group chat in a variety of colors (i.e. 1 color per user, so as to quickly differentiate who is speaking).

Currently the most pressing need is for this feature in a jabber group chat, but having done very little applescripting and knowing very little about the inner workings of both adium and the various IM protocols, I didn't know if such a feature was possible. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this?

This is a feature available to message style authors; I'm not sure which (if any) styles use it, but some people have customized their copy of a style to use it.
