Adium upgrade problems...

Hi -

I'm running an Intel iMac (Tiger 10.4.10), and the account I wanna use is MSN. Adium was working great until I upgraded to the newest version, 1.1.4.

Now all my prefs are reset and I can't re-add my account (or any accounts for that matter). All options are greyed out.

Following the FAQs I renamed the .plist file and the prefs directory. Didn't work. Then I built a new test user, and tried to add accounts using that. Didn't work.

Not sure what to do now. I don't have any Xtras or anything, so I'm confused about why this great app has stopped working! Any ideas?

This is how it looks trying to add an account:

Same symptoms as this guy but his fix doesn't work for me...

Tell us about what is different on your system from a Mac OSX X 10.4.10 system straight from Apple. Have you installed or modified any programs which aren't pure drag-and-drop installation, particularly via the command line? Have you reformatted your hard drive and selected unusual options?

That's the funny thing. Apart from a hosts file to kill web advertising it's stock. I run BootCamp with Win XP (rarely used). I have all the Apple patches, Sophos Antivirus etc. Although I run Little Snitch I have allowed all comms from Adium, and I've tried turning off all my firewalls and so on, both locally and on my router. No change.

PS > Just downloaded M$oft official product (yuk) and it connects fine (as can I from my Fedora Linux box on the same network) so it's not a connectivity issue.

Just to show that it's a single installation problem, this is a screencap from my other machine, a Powerbook. Same wireless network, same patched OS, same pack of applications. Only difference is the version of Adium. Any ideas?

The dialog in your original screenshot suggests to me that Adium is having trouble loading the preferences nib files from disk.

Is Adium running from a disk image?

Nope, Adium running as a normal install in the Apps directory, with all the normal pref files in the normal places. Problem persisted when I deleted the pref files and restarted Adium to recreate them. Might rebuild permissions on the drive and see if that helps?

Darn I'm good. 8-)

Repairing drive permissions resolved my issue.
