Okay, I have been asking in the wrong thread for a while...
For the life of me I cannot log into myspace IM. I always get a password reject error. I thought maybe if I download and log on from the PC using the real client once it would work, but no go - is there a trick? Is there a reason why I always get the "wrong password" error when I log into myspace IM (and NO, it is NOT the wrong password...)

ok, I now have version 1.2.
• I can log into myspace IM on Windows using the PC client
• I can log into myspace IM on my iPhone using the beejive jivetalk IM ajax client
• I have never been able to log into myspace IM using adium. Not in work, not at home (different machines), not after changing my password. I always get the same error, invalid password. I cannot imagine I am the only one with this problem....
Can ANYONE else duplicate this problem???

Please try the Adium 1.2 debug build and post the debug log of trying to connect only your Myspace account with all other accounts disconnected. You'll find the Debug Window under the Adium menu.

And btw, I posted the same thing (11) in another thread I started a couple of months ago when MySpace IM was first announced. No one answered after that. I have alos tried doing a smaller password, to no avail...

Any ideas?

So I have been asking about this for two months now. Every time I get the same question: "How many characters is your password", and after I answer, I hear nothing (after a flurry of activity that gets to that question). Am I asking in the wrong place? Should I be submitting bugs in the bug tracker? What gives?

I have the EXACT same problem!
I just upgraded to 1.2.4 and for the life of me I can NOT log into myspace.
The password I am using is correct (I just tried it on the myspace site) and in my case it is also made up of 11 characters (strange coincidence! I am a different person and I don't know the guy who posted first!).
I will also say that my password is alphanumeric, no other strange characters and starts with letters.
Can anyone help?

I just found the solution.
Myspace currently has a 10-character limit on the password so if anyone has a password longer than 10 letters they should remove the letters in excess of 10 from the password they type in Adium X. It is not necessary to change the password on the myspace website, just retype the first 10 letters/digits of your regular myspace password in the passoword field of Adium X and that will work.
