GTalk unannounced disconnects?

I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem, but I'm being driven nuts over here.
I'm currently running Adium 1.1.4 on OS 10.4.11. I've been running Adium for a few years, never had any major problems. I started noticing this problem a few months back. I've tried doing multiple fresh installs of Adium; I've even tried some older revisions that I'd had. I've also tried creating a new test user account, and tonight I reloaded my entire system. But this darned problem still happens.
The problem is, I'll randomly be disconnected from GTalk. Although that sucks, that's not the real issue. The REAL problem is that I don't receive any notification from Adium/GTalk, and to me, it looks like I'm still connected. Messages I send to friends will show as if they'd gone through fine on my side - but they won't get them. I often don't find out for 15-20 minutes when my friends send me a message telling me I suck for logging on them in the middle of a conversation, and it hits my GMail notifier as a message in my inbox.
Has anyone else experienced this? And is there a solution/workaround?
