A friend, who recently 'upgraded' to Leopard, now sometimes chats with me through iChat (and the ICQ network I think?)

Anyway - his messages display with complete, uninterpreted html:

<html><body ichatballooncolor="#ACB5BF" ichattextcolor="#000000"><font face="Helvetica" size=3 ABSZ=12>hela</font></body></html>

Is there a way to filter that out? Or is there something he should/could set that would make his chats not littered with superflous ascii?

I did a search in the forum and on trac, but couldn't find anything related (except this, sorta: http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/4596 )

IIRC, sending HTML on ICQ is illegal. In that case, this would be an iChat bug. Maybe try against an "official" ICQ client and see if it does the same there.

This is a well-known iChat bug, and there's an iChat extension, called Chax, that fixis this.

Okay, thanks for the replies!

I'm going to point him to this thread and refuse to speak with him again, unless he fixes it ;)
