I have thoroughly enjoyed Adium since there is no Google Talk independent chat client for the Mac, but there is one snare- File Transfers. I cannot manage to do the direct file transfer to other contacts using the Google Talk client. Is there a fix or workaround for this?

Google Talk uses a very complicated and not-yet-standardized method for transferring files. Hopefully in the future libpurple will support it, but for the time being Adium <-> Google Talk file transfers don't work. Adium <-> Adium or Adium <-> Pidgin *should* work, even with google talk accounts, but I don't think it's gotten the kind of testing AIM file transfer has yet (it's somewhat newer).
