Some "aliases" refuse to stay across restarts of A
On v1.2, on OS X 10.5.1, I'm having some issues with certain (consistent) contacts losing their alias information. I can add it back, manually, and it will stay during that session (until I quit Adium).
Once I restart/launch Adium though, the same contacts will have lost their info again.
Thought I had a solution - deleted the contacts, re-added them, and that survived a restart or two, but it's back again.
Just me? Had no such problems under OS X 10.4.x.

Upgraded to 1.2.1b1 - still no joy!
Persistent problem with Adium 1.2x - losing the alias/display name, only on certain contacts. I can add it back per session, but as soon as I quit Adium and come back any time later, the info is gone again.
Happy to shoot a debug or other log, if that's useful.

I've had the same problems for quite some time, with earlier versions of OS X and Adium as well as now with OS X 10.5.1 and Adium v1.2.1. It has always been the same contacts which I've lost the alias information for (all of them MSN contacts). Until the latest Adium installation, now I'm losing alias information for additional contacts (both ICQ and MSN contacts).

For me it's both single and combined contacts. Actually I just combined one of the problematic ICQ-accounts with a GTalk account and updated the alias. After the first restart of Adium the contacts were uncombined. After combining, renaming and restarting once again the user stayed the way I'd like it to.

So after you set it, if you close and reopen the Get Info window, do you still see it listed there in the editable Alias area?dankeldsen wrote:Not for me. None of the affected contacts are combined, actually. And it's primarily AIM contacts. I don't use ICQ, so not affected there either.evands wrote:Is this with combined contacts only?

If I remain in a single session (have not quit Adium entirely), then my changes to contact info (and aliases specifically) remain.evands wrote:So after you set it, if you close and reopen the Get Info window, do you still see it listed there in the editable Alias area?dankeldsen wrote:Not for me. It's only when I quit and restart Adium that I lose the change.

Nope - just asking as it determined what I recommended as the next step in investigating this. Please do this:
Open in Finder:
~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/ByObject
Sort the window by "date modified" so you can see what the most recently changed file was.
In Adium, change the alias for a contact for whom you're seeing this problem.
Go back to Finder and look at the list: A file for the contact should now be at the top of it, with a name in the form AIM.tekjew (where AIM is the service and tekjew was the contact's screenname).
If the file at the top starts with "MetaContact", that's okay, too.
Send me the file in question, including the screenname of the person you changed and what the alias was changed to.

No worries! Get to it when you can. I didn't intend to sound snippy - just noting that the lack of updates in this thread was because I hadn't heard any more yet.dankeldsen wrote:Getting there - long week last week.
