Hi there.
I'm running Adium X 1.2 on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.4.11.
When I plug in my external Harmon Kardon speakers, Adium's sound effects go silent. All my other sounds seem to work: in my system sound prefs I've got Output set to external speakers and Sound Effects set to internal speakers, and incoming email, for example, is audible. As soon as I unplug the speakers, Adium makes noise again.
I tried renaming the Adium 2.0 folder in the library but that didn't help.
This seems to have started happening with the latest upgrade, which I installed on January 5. Or am I dreaming?
Thanks...
Madeline
Notifications with external speakers
Re: Notifications with external speakers
I am also having this problem, specifically with an older set of Harmon Kardon speakers.
I am using a clean install (no extras) of Adium 1.4.2, and OSX 10.6.8.
As far as I can tell this kicked in after one of the Snow Leopard updates, but unfortunately I didn't make a note of it.
I have tried all the steps in the Troubleshooting section on the wiki, including a new user account for OSX.
Sounds DO work when the Sound preference pane is switched to "internal speakers", but will not work when the external speakers are selected under "sound effects". All other sound effects and programs on the computer have sound working just fine either way.
I am going to check for updated drivers for the speakers or something... that's the only thing I can think of at this point. Going nuts! Anyone? If additional info will help, please let me know.
