Why am I told when contacts disconnects/connects in chat ?

I have Adium v1.2.1 using MSN. Everything works fine, but if I have a chat window open, it adds an entry showing me every contact connect/disconnect for them.
Since people go idle and come back regularly, the window fills up pretty quickly.
How can I disable these in-chat-window notifications?

Hi,
I have a similar, if not the same, problem.
I've just recently added my first MSN contact and his status constantly alternates between "Away" and "Returned" (like, every few seconds).
I have sounds associated with these events, which work fine for all my other, non-MSN, contacts, but it gets really annoying really fast when this one is online.
So, I'm wondering if this is an MSN issue, or if it's unique to this contact, or an Adium issue.
I hope somebody replies with a solution or an idea.

I'm assuming that you've already perused the preference panes pretty thoroughly?
