Adium Xtra Psychic Mode Request

Post by madmac625 »

I have used Pidgin for a while now and really enjoyed the psychic mode, where it would alert you when people were typing to you even when you didn't have an active chat open. I am not a great coder and really didn't know where to start when I first set out to do it, so I am just putting it out there to see if anyone is interested in taking this on. Thanks a lot!

"Psychic Mode is a strange feature. Put simply, it lets you know when someone is going to send you an IM before they actually send you a message. This is accomplished by opening a conversation window/tab when a channel is opened over the IM service from a user. Since most clients (including Meanwhile) open the IM channel as soon as possible in order to negotiate features, a user of a psychic-enabled client will have a conversation window open as soon as someone opens a conversation window to them."

That seems to be it. How do I use the files there to set it up? Thanks a lot by the way, I'm very new to this stuff, but trying to learn Xcode and the like and I really appreciate the help.

Adium 1.3 will have this included by default.

I tried to pull down the psychic plugin to build it for 1.2 and the svn checkout failed because it could not find the Libpurple framework on the svn server. Not sure how to pull it down properly. I just may try the 1.3 build to see how it works. It looks like the feature in 1.3 is just to show the contact as typing in the contact list, not to pop open a window. I saw the patch to pop open the window but it hasn't been committed yet.
