Event bezel telling me about buddies not in my list

Every now and then I get an even notification via the bezel, not using grown, just standard Adium, about a buddy whom I do not know. This buddy is not in my list as best as I can tell, how do I track this down?

i have events (bezels; growl) telling me about people i have deleted from my list. pretty weird. these people tend to coe back on my list the next time they log on... like really annoying. i can't beat them
