Although I have no idea how to even begin to make a spotlight plugin, I do think it would have very great potential. All the user would have to do would be to chat with anyone they like would be to spotlight either the username or the alias and select the adium-related result. Moreover, a command click would bring up either a get info bubble or reveal the contact by selecting it in the buddy list, maybe through a configurable setting. Then, with the option to either turn this search feature on or off with Adium closed, it would complete the user experience. It would be a quicksilver-esque way of doing things that I feel has great potential. How many times have you looked at your buddy list, searching for someone in the long list you know is online, but spending over a minute doing so. Anyone know a way of writing an xtra to accomplish this formidable yet rewarding task? Or, even incorporate this idea into the next build of Adium, devs.

Anyone have any idea how to get this idea up and running?
