MySpace Login "Hang" Question

Post by robindeandotcom »

I'm sure it's been long known and perhaps posted before. I want to give this issue a fresh start and see if I can get some guidance.

Many of us have already experienced the satisfaction of logging into our myspace messenger accounts and have it working just fine. Then there are those who are getting the "infinite rainbow wheel" before having to force quit Adium (I'm on of them).

After reading as many posts on the issue as I could find, the problem's average source is that the user attempting to login has too many friends on myspace for Adium to easily handle.

This makes sense to me and I believe that it is my problem.

I'm a musician. My account at myspace is an artist account. We mingle. We know people. We network and the list of acquantances gets pretty big.

I'm basically posting this because a) I have over 300 friends and b) my friends list isn't getting any smaller (it's growing all the time and they're actual friends not bizarre band spammers).

I want to voice my compliments on what you've accomplished with this software while simultaneously expressing my desire for you to KEEP SEEKING OUT THE SOLUTION.

Even if a person has 1000 friends, there must be some way for Adium to "zing" through the list rather than "analyze, super process and update accordingly".

I'm an idiot with a router as far as IT concepts go, so don't laugh ... but why not gather all of the account screen names first, then update one at a time on a lower "loop speed" ... don't update until the software can handle it or something. I don't know.

Best wishes and thank you!

The problem is fixed for Adium 1.2.4; a beta can be found by enabling beta update checking in your Adium General preferences.
The duck still burns.
