customized MSN emoticons?

Post by deling »

The windows version of MSN messenger has a feature that lets you add customized emoticons. And your buddy is able to see them even if they don't have the same emoticons installed.

I am wondering if the devs of Adium have any plan on implementing this feature.

i believe that msn is the only protocol that supports this feature, and so the devs aren't that interested in implementing it (at the moment at least) as it would only be useful for a minority and there's higher priorities right now.

sorry :(

Yahoo has the feature too, I'm almost certain... You can certainly add custom emoticons à la Adium, I think it sends them too.

wrong. It does not send them, only renders them on your side.

Gaim 2.0.0 will support receiving custom MSN emoticons, though it most likely will not support sending them. So at some point in the far future we will at least support receiving them.
The duck still burns.
