Problem with Yahoo! Japan

Post by PaLLina »

Hello Adium users!

Recently I added my Yahoo! Japan account to Adium, and I'm having a problem with it.

It just never seems to connect!! :???:
I have myself on the buddy list so I can see my status, and it just stays that I am "offline" no matter what. The funny thing is though, my Adium dock icon says I am online!
I have no idea what is wrong and how to fix this problem.

Could someone please help me?

I am using: Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 (Tiger), Adium X 1.2.4

Thank you!

Thank you evands, for your reply.

I updated to the current beta, but nothing changed... (I still see myself offline, but the dock icons says I'm online)
And your suggestion to see the "ReportingBugs" page... I searched for similar problems but could not find any solutions. Should I report this problem as a bug? (I'm sorry if I sound like a dummy. I'm really new at this)

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

No problem! I wanted you to update to the beta not because I expected it to fix the problem ( though it might have ) but rather because you now have access to the debug logging mentioning in ReportingBugs which can further narrow down the source of difficulty. Please do file a Trac ticket with your problem and your debug log of attempting to connect.

Howdy folks. First post.

I seem to be having a very similar problem however, ever so slightly different.

I too am having issues with Yahoo! JAPAN. Only difference is. . . It was working fine until yesterday. Just a note: I haven't updated since the last update and I have not changed any setting or added anything new. When I originally set up the acct. I set everything up and it has been working fine. No hitches. I am a believer, if it aint broke don't fix it. Well that was the case until yesterday.

I use Yahoo! JAPAN for work and now when I click on the connect button for that particular client, I get a pop up asking for me to enter my password. Mind you, my password has been in my keychain so I haven't changed anything. So I tried to type it in slowly just for the sake of doing it. No change. I cleared all preferences and still no change. I deleted the acct. cleared prefs again and re added it and still no change. (let me add to this. . I also run AIM and regular Yahoo and they still work with no problems).
I am at a complete loss as I really have no more options left. Please help as this is a very important feature for me to use as it is for work.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Please get us some debug logging of attempting to connect (http://adiumx.com/faq/CurrentAdiumDebug).

http://help.yahoo.co.jp/help/jp/messeng ... in-15.html

They checking version or changed protocol?

I think it has something to do with whatever Adium uses to get into Yahoo Japan. At work, I use Pidgin with my Windows box, and the exact same thing happened, so I think it's just whatever plugin or whatever they both use has gone "out of style" or something.

evands, I'm sorry that I still haven't got around to get the "debug logging". I will do it as soon as I go home. I am sorry to keep you waiting.

No need for further debug logging, PaLLina. This has been fixed for Adium 1.2.5; the beta is available at beta.adiumx.com and includes the fix as of 1.2.5b2.
