file transfers, firewalls, and ports

Adium's great, but the troubles with file transfers are getting to me. I've looked through the other posts on file transfers, but couldn't find exactly what to do about this problem. I opened up ports 1080, 5190-5200, and 4443. That helped for receiving files, but when I try to send files to users of either aim or msn, they can't receive them. They get the file transfer dialog box, but the transfer doesn't start. Are there other ports that I need to open? I also use Airport, but I don't know how to change settings (more specifically, what settings to change) to make this work out. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Same here

I tried the file transfer function today with the same results. If there is a way to fix this on my end I would love to know it.

If you're behind wireless, you're going to want to set up port forwarding on the ports you mentioned... you can do that from the Airport Admin Utility IIRC.

how does one go about opening ports? And are the ports mentioned in the first post the only ones I need to fiddle with to get file transfer to work?

I'm on 10.3.9, adium .77, if that helps.
