Option for global proxy-configuration?

Post by timadler »

Hey everbody,

I was wondering, if it would be a cool feature for Adium to have a global proxy-configuration. I for example very often use a SOCKS proxy over SSH-tunnel, to keep my passwords from being sniffed on open WLANs or get out of our company-network. Therefore I constantly have to change the proxy-config for my ICQ and Jabber-account.

It'd be cool to have something like a overridable-proxy-configuration. Where you specify a proxy-config, for all accounts, which can be overridden be individual proxy-configs in the specific accounts.

Is something like that in the planning, or would it perhaps make a decent feature addition?

Cheers!

Just enable the default proxy configuration, to use the systemwide proxy settings, and then set up your systemwide proxy settings in the System Preferences. You can use the OS X Locations feature to easily switch between configurations.
The duck still burns.

The big trouble is that this does not work if the proxy is setup via PAC file. Is there a way to let Adium use the global Mac proxy setup or at least have a global proxy option so that people don't need to set it up and switch on/off for each of the accounts (5 in my case) everytime?
