message styles testing

Post by ravijo »

Hey,

I've posted recently regarding some plist syntax on message styles. I'm now wondering if there is any efficient way to edit and test the interface without constantly restarting Adium. I know it's all html and CSS when you get down to it, what do developers do? I'm a n00b to adium development, but I know my way around web design and CSS: beyond the documentation (which I'm half way trough), what can you guys advise?

thanks

You could combine them into a mockup.

Maybe if there was a sample of what the message window spits out... that can be run in safari, then I can make my stylesheets accordingly? I'm not sure that will work, but it kinda makes sense

The message view (if I recall correctly) sticks the appropriate HTML file in where the 'current' <div id="insert"></div> is in the accumulating messages, substituting the %keywords% as it goes. For an example of how this works out, you can see the mockups for the end of the Writing HTML section of the tutorial: HTML only, and with CSS.
