A Contact list style changes the way the Contact list looks like. You can make styles yourself; or you can download one from the Adium Extras site. Installing the style is simple. Just double click it, to use it go to Adium Preferences. Then Appearance, once there go to the second half titled "Contact List" chose the style from the drop down menu that is there. Layout is the way the contact list looks, color theme is the colors in it.

As an add to dbomb:
The overall look of your contact list includes colors, spacing, informative text, groupings and font styles.

As an alternative installation you may put the .ListTheme file in the "~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Contact List" folder. Next time you start Adium your contact list will be there.
