1) the OPTION to have a "user is typing" image to appear in messages... like ichat has the thought bubbles which precede the message.

2) I suspect this MAY be limited to what libGAIM can do, so bear with me here. It occurs to me that so many message styles' variants are simple colour changes. Maybe there could be an improves preference interface which allows us to use the users colours. I think this is POSSIBLE, but I think this should be tweaked via the preference pane. I have mocked up something that resembles my idea. Then the message view author can set what component's colour change when the colout is chosen via a special .css item.

3) the font on the message view pref pane should allow for the selecting of say bold.

nice! I like it… except the mockup has a collapsed "Colour & Fonts" section

Also, Adium is an American app so it's "Color"

The mock-up looks nice.

Maybe someone should make a "British" localization of Adium.

Just FYI, libgaim has only to do with the actual transfer of instant messages and the network end. While Libgaim is responsible for retrieving the information, how it is displayed to the user (message views) is entirely handled by Adium proper.

... or indeed, in my case a Canadian localization! :P How do those get done?

Do "Show Package Contents" (contextual menu) on Adium.app, navigate to Contents -> Resources, duplicate English.lproj and rename it Canadian.lproj, and edit the files inside.

Not quite. Look below, and notice the though bubbles which appear as the buddy is typing. I've recently learned some more about message styles. There already exists different message layouts for different events (ie content, context, etc.) Maybe if enabled in the plist, adium could load a seperate "typing" set that is replaced once the message is sent or the user has stopped typing?

I was also thinking that the animation used in Scrolled (see adiumxtras) could be built in and enabled within the plist also. I think these kinds of features will make message styles more popular.

Scrolled + ProtoScroll == ProtoScrollMod

Anyways, ProtoScrollMod 2 for 0.8 will have the script in Footer.html so if you copy that it should work.

Uploading new binary right now…

EDIT: It'll be a new xtra, ProtoScrollMod 2 for 0.8 and up

I've managed to copy and paste the scolling thing from scrolled, but putting it in the footer alone would help! Thanks!

I was thinking that that java animation is really well done, and others like it should be built in. So that the java doesn't have to be copied and pasted. Maybe something like

<key>AnimationType</key>
<string>ProtoScroll</string>

or something.

I've done some work on the iChat clone and will release it under the name iChadium :) for 0.8. It will have nicer colours... oops I mean colors, and the scrolling thing.
