chat window won't open on double click

hi everyone,

i'm a mac newbie and have recently installed adium. actually everything works fine except one thing:
if i double-click on one of the contacts in my list, nothing happens and i don't understand why. i checked my adium settings and finally uninstalled and installed it again, but it still won't work.
double-click in other programmes works as it should, so i honestly don't know what to do.

would be great if someone could help me!
