Describe push/pop. Why it is useful, etc.

Push/Pop is used for accessing the last messages you have typed in a conversation. You can cycle through what you have typed by holding down option and the Up/Down arrows. This can be useful to send the same message in multiple windows, or if someone misses something, you do not need to retype what you said.

Does this include control-down/up for storing messages?

Yeah, I thought push/pop was for storing unsent messages (it used to be, and the name certainly implies it), and hitting up-arrow or whatever to see previously sent messages is just kind of a general feature, it's in Colloquy too, dunno what else.
