Setting up gtalk with the default settings, it hangs up at Initializing Stream (25%) and comes up with an error: Socket cannot connect.

Any ideas?

Mine worked with
- force old SSL
- port 443

Maybe there is another solution, but I don't know.
But I'm interested why old settings don't work anymore as well. Does anybody know?

Yeah, that's not working either... :-/

I have been having this problem for YEARS now - like, a year and a half, maybe? Four or five versions of Adium at least. No update has fixed it, no settings I have found... until I stumbled across this. I just updated Adium to 1.3.1 and told GTalk to use the settings you mentioned, and bam! It worked! Thanks!

Also had trouble connecting to Google Talk. Ended up setting Port to be 5223. and selected "Force old-style-SSL" and it connected almost instantly.
