If someone is set to "Appear Offline" but is talking with me (ie, they started the conversation), does this mean I'm not going to be able to respond to their comments? I know in the pre 1.3 Adium there was a time limit of sending a message within 1 minute, but this ticket gives the impression that we're not going to be able to talk to them at all. If this is the case, how will I communicate with people who "Appear Offline"?

Please post threads concerning the beta in the beta forum.

Please also check the known issues in Trac next time. Your concern was filed as #10695 before starting a thread.
Edit: The ticket I meant was #10770.

Hopefully, this is fixed for the next release.

I checked the Beta forum, but thought as this was a general Adium change it was best suited to this forum. And as I'm sure you'll notice from the timestamp on this thread and the one you link to, this thread was created first. I checked the Beta forum and found nothing

Please read threads properly before replying - you'll see I specifically referenced that exact trac ticket in my query. Some people do know how to use forums and to check certain places before posting - please don't jump to conclusions that we haven't.


So, if we could go back to my original question, which for the record has not been answered in either the Trac ticket or the thread you linked to... can we chat to people who are "Appear Offline" and are talking to us at the time?

Ok, well it's a change that affects the new version of Adium which is beta stage and the beta forum would be the place where the developers look out for reports concering the beta.

Sorry, I got mixed up with the times. Where I come from, we don't use am and pm.

I have to apologise here, too. My reaction was indeed to rash and I mentioned the wrong ticket. I meant #10770.

If I understand correctly, the result of the ticket I named in this post should be that you are able to talk to people who are invisible (how does "Appear Offline" contrast with invisibility? - I don't know, I hardly use MSN), once they have messaged you.

"Appear Offline" and "Invisible" are the same in MSN terms. Reading that ticket 10770, it does seem the issue has been resolved.
