I had this exact problem when I upgraded. I had to delete the MSN account from Adium and re-add it. That fixed the issue.

I am having the same issue. Tried new pref files, tried recreating the account. No luck. Any ideas why this suddenly quit working after the upgrade?

Good question. My account address contains an underscore "_" as well. Hmm. That seems weird, but I guess it is possible. The address worked with the previous version.

Are your passwords longer than 8 characters?

Yeah, changing to a password shorter than eight characters should fix the problem.

I've done it but nothing changes... I think the problem is in the underscore

100% loaded but it doesnt connect. 100% Loading contents of Contactlist. 30mins later still not online.
I have no MSN Contactlist in Adium, because it dont works. For chatting with MSN i use aMSN. So i think its very bugged.

I have the same problem. Shortening my password didn't help. My username doesn't contain underscores, only letters, dot (.), and at-sign (@).

I had no problems logging in with the previous version of Adium, or with Pidgin on the PC and IM+ on the iPod. Something seems to be broken in this release of Adium.

What else can I do?

make sure you've read this hint http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic. ... 32#p109457 and that it doesn't apply to you.

In order to troubleshoot this, downloaded the current Adium debug build:

http://adiumx.cachefly.net/Adium_1.3.1svn20080826.dmg

and run it (straight from the disk image). Lo and behold! It connected to MSN without an authentication failure. Even more weird, when I afterwards started the original 1.3 release, it worked, too! Looks like the debug build "repaired" something...

Strange.

I tried but it still doesn't help. However, this time it gives a different message: Unable to authenticate: .NET Messenger Service

I too am having MSN connection issues. I have an underscore in my user name, a pass shorter than 8 characters. It's very hit or miss that I'll connect. This morning I was connected fine, but then it just crashed out.

Will try the debug build and report findings. Deleting/Re-adding MSN account didn't work for me.

As an incidental - I'm using Mac OS 10.4, fully patched up.

Cheers,

Tarfie
